Rotary International President-elect Jennifer Jones will represent Rotary on stage at the 2021 Global Citizen Live concert on 25 September in Paris, France. Global Citizen Live is part of a day of unity to galvanize support toward ending the COVID-19 pandemic, stopping the hunger crisis, educating all children, protecting the planet, and advancing equity for all.
The 24-hour broadcast and streaming event that will feature performances from an extraordinary lineup of artists and messages from world leaders. Events will be staged around the world including New York City, USA; Paris, France; London, U.K.; Los Angeles, USA; Lagos, Nigeria; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Seoul, Korea; and Sydney, Australia.
Jones, who will be on the main stage in Paris, will announce at 2:00 p.m. (Chicago-time) Rotary's pledge to fund grants to help members take action in their communities that address poverty, education, the environment, and peace. Performers on the Paris stage will include Ed Sheeran, Elton John, Doja Cat, Black Eyed Peas, Angelique Kidjo, and more.
Rotary has worked with Global Citizen for a more than decade, primarily around the effort to eradicate polio worldwide. In 2012, Rotary General Secretary John Hewko announced a $75 million commitment to polio eradication on stage at the 2012 Global Citizen event in New York City.
